The uniforms for the children at the African Hearts School are all made by Kizito Issa who is a graduate of the African Hearts program. In 2002 Issa was one of the first boys to be helped by the organization. While at school he discovered his tailoring talent, and was then sponsored to go to a tailoring school where he emerged as the best student of his year. He is now self sufficient through his business, and designs and makes all the uniforms for the boys and girls at the African Hearts Junior School. Issa’s success is an example of the effectiveness of programs that support vocational training. The Brighter Smiles Africa program continues to need sponsors for other young people to promote their independence through acquisition of vocational skills.
